MITT ROMNEY HAWKISH WITH THE REST OF THE GOP

Politics: Hawkish GOP-Has 9-11 Taught Us Anything?
Remember how we all felt after 9-11 happened? We were hurt and pissed off at whoever attacked us. As a nation we came together right then and there. It didn’t matter at the time what color your skin was; we were all Americans and vowed to get even with the attackers.
We seem to always have some people in power that are very hawkish and want to fight with any country that doesn’t run the same way American democracy does.  Look at how long we’ve had an embargo against Cuba. A limited embargo started in 1960 and a near total embargo went into effect in 1962. Has it worked or not against Cuba? This is one area I have to agree on with Congressman Ron Paul. We should be talking and working with countries even if we don’t agree with their governments, like Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba. Embargos hurt the citizens more than they hurt the leaders.
The leaders will get their needs somehow, some way no matter what. If we had spent the last 52 years dealing with Castro and the Cuban people instead of forgetting about them just maybe we’d gotten more out of it. Remember the old quote “Kill them with kindness”. People like to help people that are nice. No one goes out of their way to help a truly nasty person. Some of our politicians don’t like Cuba dealing with Venezuela. If Cuba can’t deal with us they have to shop around for other options.
After 9-11 we went after Osama Bin Laden but somehow ended up going to war with a dictator in Iraq for false reasons. This war not only hurt American families and killed American children but also killed thousands of innocent Iraqis.  If a country invaded us like we did to Iraq we would not just forget about it. When Japan attacked us did we forget about it?
Many on the right want us to move against Iran now to stop their nuclear program. Over the years we have worked with others, like Russia, to cut back on nuclear weapons. We still have plenty of nukes and so do a whole bunch of other countries. Iran being its own country has a right to weapons like the rest of us. Kind of funny when you think about it that it’s people on the right in this country who always fight for the right to bear arms, yet not when it’s another country.
Candidates like Mitt Romney keep saying he will never apologize for America. Well Mitt is wrong! President Obama is right to talk to other countries good or bad. It’s always better to keep your enemies close than not know what is going on. We were never made the policeman of the world.
